These coffee cake squares have three main advantages compared to what you typically find in stores.
 
  1) Moistness. Breads can range from moist Irish Cream Cakes all the way to dry croisants. Unfortunately, many coffee cakes out there use the latter; as a result, the bread can lack taste and richness, relying more on the topping for the flavor. Coffee cake made here however, has a consistency closer to that of actual cake.
 
  2) The cinnamon filling. Simply put, it takes more work to include this layer in the center of the bread, which is why you don't usually see it around.
